Mean Shift and Kalman Filter based Human Face Tracking

Real-time human detection and tracking is a vast, challenging and important field of research. It has wide range of applications in human recognition, human computer interaction (HCI), video surveillance etc. The research for biometric authentication of a person has reached far but real-time tracking of human beings has not gained much importance. Keeping continuous track of person will allow identifying person at any time and monitoring the activities of a person. Face is vital parts of human being represent most important information. Face detection is done using skin color based methods. YCbCrcolor model is used to detect skin regions. Mean shift algorithm combined with Kalman filter is used for tracking. Mean shift and Kalman filter are effective algorithms for tracking.
